The second annual Fly Me to the Moon Jazz Concert and Silent Auction held on April 25, 2014 at the Columbia/Adair County airport was a tremendous success.

Over $12,000 was raised to fund the Hillary Hadley Memorial Scholarship which is a $1000 scholarship awarded each year to a graduating Adair County High School senior who chooses to attend Eastern Kentucky University.

The scholarship was created to honor the memory of Hillary Hadley, a 2007 ACHS graduate, who was a student at EKU when she was involved in a fatal truck/train collision in August, 2010.

Video: A Night of Jazz

A heartfelt thank you is extended to the community and the family and friends of Hillary Hadley for making this event and scholarship funds possible.

This unique night of entertainment spotlighting young jazz musicians and items made by local artisans would not have been possible without the support of numerous community businesses and countless volunteer hours by the Hillary Hadley Memorial Scholarship Committee.

Thank you to everyone who attended the event and made contributions or donated items for the silent auction.

For more information about the scholarship or to make a contribution, please contact Inette Goodin at (270) 384-4998 or MellaDee Allen at (270) 384-3445. ACHS students interested in receiving the scholarship should contact Leslie Melton or Ann Young, guidance counselors at ACHS.
