By Charles Balcom

COLUMBIA, KY - Lindsey Wilson women’s tennis student-athlete Anna Gaprindashvili has been named a 2014 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete, the national office announced on Friday.

The junior from Georgia, Russia helped the Blue Raiders advance to the NAIA National Championship Semifinals this season before falling to Georgia Gwinnett.

Earlier this season, she earned Academic All Mid-South Conference honors for the second time in her career.

Gaprindashvili, a business administration major, is one of 101 women’s tennis student-athletes to be named a 2014 Scholar-Athlete. St. Ambrose (Iowa) led all institutions with five individuals on the list.

In order to be nominated by an institution, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved junior academic status. - Charles Balcom
