Rosa Helen Irvin, Adair County, KY (1929-2014)

She was the cherished matriarch of one of the large, great families centered around Northeast Adair County, KY. She was the widow of Ernest "Smallboy Irvin. She leaves 36 direct living descendants. She was a member of Bearwallow United Methodist Church, and was retired from Fruit of the Loom in Campbellsville, KY after a career of 32 years.

Rosa Helen Irvin age 85 years of the Vester community passed away Sunday, May 4, 2014, at 1:35pmCT, at Summit Manor Health & Rehab Center, Columbia, KY.

Funeral service Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at 11amCT, at the Bearwallow United Methodist Church, 6090 Liberty Road, Columbia, KY. Clergy officiating Bro. Lanny Garner, Wesley Irvin, Travis Garner & Rev. Glenn LaFond. Interment in Bearwallow Cemetery. Visitation after 4pmCT, Tuesday, May, 6, 2014, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY.


Rosa Helen Irvin, Adair County, KY (1929-2014)

She was born on Wednesday, May 1, 1929 in Adair County, KY. She was the daughter of the late Lola Mae Childers. She died Sunday, May 4, 2014, in Columbia, Adair County, KY, at the age of 85 years and 3 days.

She was the widow of Ernest :Smallboy" Irvin (February 10, 1998). She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter Sarah Kay Irvin Gardner on October 24, 2010.

She is survived by the following:
  • Four sons: Everett Wayne Irvin & his wife Alice of Columbia, KY; Marshall Dale Irvin & his wife Sharon; Larry Russell Irvin & his wife Julie of Columbia, KY; & Marty William Irvin & his wife Kristi of Columbia, KY

  • Two daughters: Linda Kay Garner & her husband Bro. Lanny of Campbellsville, KY; Ernestine Higginbotham & her husband Raymond of Cecilia, KY

  • Fourteen grandchildren: Tina & her husband Chris Ward, Jamie & her husband Bryan Schaefer, Michael & his wife Laura Highbaugh, Nathan & Brent Highbaugh, Erica & her husband Patrick Higginbotham, Wesley & his wife Andrea Irvin, Travis & his wife Sara Garner, Joshua & his wife Naomi Garner, Caleb & his wife Luci Irvin, Emily Irvin & her Fiance’ Kyle Campbell, Madison Irvin, and Braxton Irvin

  • Grandson-in-law: Stephen & his wife Tara Gardner

  • Fourteen great grandchildren: James & Ryan Ward, Oliver Schaefer, Meredith & Laurel Highbaugh, Elliot, Aubrey & Evelyn Higginbotham, Caroline Gardner, Grady Irvin, Logan, Madelynn, Hailey & Landon Garner

  • Several nieces, nephews & a host of other relatives & friends survive
She was a member of Bearwallow United Methodist Church & was retired from Fruit of the Loom in Campbellsville, KY after a career of 32 years.
