CTR Firefighters use ladders to rescue apartment fire victims

Some occupants on second floor lowered to safety by firefighters utilizing ladders. Fire quickly extinguished by other firefighters quickly extinguished blaze. Red Cross is assisting families. Cause of fire is still under investigation.

Campbellsville Fire-Rescue was dispatched to a reported apartment fire loated at 419 North Jackson Sreet, Campbellsville, KY, at 10:12pmET, Saturday, January 3, 2014. On arrival, they firefighters found smoke coming from a first floor apartment with several building occupants on second floor decks at the rear of the building.



Firefighters utilized ladders to assist those occupants to the ground while other firefighters quickly extinguished the fire. the fire was contained to the apartment where the fire originated, with heavy smoke damage in that apartment and minor to moderate smoke damage in three additional apartments.

Thirty personnel and four units of apparatus were on the scene, with no assisting agencies.

The Campbellsville Chapter of the American Red Cross is working with these families to provide assistance.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
