Ralph Waggener recalls tale of Uncle Hob, told by Grover Gilpin By Ralph Waggener Editor & Publisher, It's Just for a Smile News I believe it was the late Grover Gilpin who told me the story about my Aunt Opal Walker. Seems Opal did not drive and a Mr. Keltner (not sure) was driving Aunt Opal back from Campbellsville and when going around the curves and dip that is across the road now from Hancock Tire Center and is still visible from the new road, the Model A Ford turned over. They set it back up and proceeded on to Gradyville, where Opal's husband Hob ran their general store. When Mr. Keltner proceeded to tell Hob what had happened. After some explaining Hob ask Mr. Keltner to take him back to the scene of the accident and told him to show what had happened. As they drove along about the same speed the Model A turned over just as it had before. Be careful what you ask for! - RALPH WAGGENER This story was posted on 2014-04-30 11:23:03
