LWC's Krupinski named MSC Softball Player of the Week

Krupinski hit three home runs and pushed across seven RBIs in four games this week

COLUMBIA, KY- Kristina Krupinski is the Mid-South Conference Softball Player of the Week, conference officials announced on Monday.

Krupinski earns her first weekly honor of the season and second of her career. She previously picked up the award on February 25, 2013.



The junior posted a .455 batting average with three home runs and seven RBIs to earn the conference's player of the week honor. She helped the No. 8-ranked Blue Raiders to a 4-0 week.

The Elizabethtown, KY, first baseman began her week with a 2-for-4 performance in the first game of a doubleheader with Georgetown (KY). She hit a seventh-inning grand slam to help the Blue Raiders win in come-from-behind fashion 4-2. Krupinski added a two-run home run in the second game in a 4-1 win.

Against Cumberlands (KY), Krupinski hit a solo home run in the first game of the doubleheader to become the program's all-time home run leader with 36 career homers.

Krupinski scored seven times while posting a 1.273 slugging percentage during the week.

This season, Krupinski is second in the Mid-South in slugging percentage (.810), third in runs (45), fourth in home runs (11), seventh in RBIs (37) and eighth in batting average (.397). She is 18th in the NAIA in slugging percentage and 19th in home runs nationally.

Krupinski joins teammates Travatia Bowden, Abbi Goedde and Jasmine Matchen as conference weekly award winners this season.

Lindsey Wilson improves to 37-5 overall and 23-3 in the Mid-South with last week's wins.

The next softball player and pitcher of the week awards will be announced on Monday, April 28, 2014. - Charles Balcom
