LWC choral program final performance of school year at Columbia Christian

By Duane Bonifer

The LWC choral program will give its final performance of the school year at 6:30pmCT Sunday, April 27, at Columbia Christian Church, 206 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY.

The "Spring Music Gala" will feature both LWC choral groups -- the Lindsey Wilson Singers and the Lindsey Wilson Concert Choir -- and also a string orchestra. Selections to be performed include Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Te Deum and Georg Philipp Telemann's Laudate Jehovam. The concert is free and open to the public.

The concert will conclude with a more than 100-voice performance of the "Hallelujah" chorus from George Frideric Handel's Messiah.

"This is a preparation, if you will, for next December," said LWC Associate Professor of Music Gerald Chafin, who will conduct the concert. "Because of the success of the 'Messiah Sing' in December 2012, we have made a commitment to our campus and the community to present a 'Messiah Sing' with full orchestra every December of an even-numbered year. In preparation for that this December, at the end of this year's spring concert we are inviting more than 100 people from the campus community to join the Singers and Concert Choir in a performance of the 'Hallelujah' chorus." - Duane Bonifer
