Bobby Rowe, PhD, Adair Co., KY, native (1932-2014)

He was a member of a prominent Columbia, KY family and his warmly remembered by his many friends here. He leaves many relatives in Adair County, as well. He was the son of the late Owen and Icy Rowe of Columbia, KY. WIth his death, Haskin Rowe, Columbia, KY, is he sole surviving sibling of the family which also included Bobby Rowe, Ceola Rowe, and Osby Rowe. He was an instructor at Enterprise State Junior College for 30 years, teaching Western Civilization, Philosophy, Anthropology, Sociology and Archaeology. He was passionate about what he taught and made students think. He was an advocate for people and their rights. He has definitely left an imprint on this world and his students. His wife, Teresa Rowe, survives. He leaves 16 direct living descendants.

Bobby Rowe, PhD, of New Brockton, AL passed away Sunday, April 6, 2014 at SE Alabama Medical Center after a courageous fight with multiple myeloma. He was 81.

Memorial services were held at 4pmCT, Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory Chapel, 1301 Neal Metcalf Road, Enterprise, AL, with Rev. Donnie Thrasher officiating. The family received friends at the funeral home from 2:30pmCT until service time.



Dr. Bobby Rowe, Adair County, KY native (1932-2014)

He was born December 2, 1932 in Adair County, KY. He was he son of the late Owen and Icy Rowe. He died Sunday, April 6, 2014, in Dothan, AL, at the age of 81 years, 4 months, and 4 days.

Dr. Rowe was an instructor at Enterprise State Junior College for 30 years, teaching Western Civilization, Philosophy, Anthropology, Sociology and Archaeology. He was passionate about what he taught and made students think. He was an advocate for people and their rights. He has definitely left an imprint on this world and his students.

Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Owen and Icy Rowe; brother, Osby Rowe; sister, Ceola Rowe-Lay.

Survivors include his wife Teresa Rowe, New Brockton, AL, and the following:
  • Daughters, Jeanine Buxton Roberts, Enterprise, AL; Renee Rowe Goodson (Phil), Pace, FL; Ceola Rowe Odom (Ken), Pace, FL; Jennifer Windham Massey (Paul), Enterprise, AL

  • Son, Chris Windham (Courtney), Opelika, AL

  • Grandchildren: Dallas Buxton (Danielle), Dalton Buxton, Katelyn, Molly and Georgia Goodson, Abigail Odom, Tyler and Jason Massey, Cade and Cailyn Morgan

  • Great-grandson, Braiden

  • Brother: Haskin Rowe (Cynthia), Columbia, KY

  • Sister-in-law, Judy Rowe, Columbia, KY

  • Nephews: Wally Rowe and Shannon Rowe

  • Nieces: Patti Rowe Nall, Libby Huggins, Tammy Pickett, Jill Rowe, and Mindy Ward
