AC School District is offering extended school services - free

Extra tutoring, extra time for students in danger of failing

By Shamarie Claiborne, Media Coordinator
Adair County School District, 1204 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY

Adair County High School is fortunate to offer extended school services this year for every student free of charge. We will be accepting teacher and parent recommendations for students who are at risk of failing, who need to attain a credit in a previously failed course, who need additional time to learn the content presented in the classroom, or who need to make up a quiz or test. Report cards were sent home by our students before Spring Break.

Please review your children's report cards with them so you will be aware of their present progress in their classes. We ask that you encourage your children to speak to their teachers or our ESS Coordinator if they feel they have a need for our tutoring services. The ESS Program is for the common goal of helping our children be successful.

In this final stretch to the end of the school year, we will be offering extended school services every Monday afternoon in English, Social Studies, and CTE courses with Mrs. Robyn Mantooth and Mrs. Shamarie Claiborne; every Wednesday afternoon in Science with Mrs. Sheila Willis and Mrs. Tina Hadley; and every Thursday afternoon in Math with Mrs. Marsha Reddick. All of these sessions will be 3pm-5pmCT.

We will also continue to offer a session for make-up quizzes and tests with Miss Michelle Petty every 7am-7:45amCT, Wednesday morning through the end of the school year, and tutoring sessions on our early release Friday afternoons from 1pmCT to 3pmCT for every subject area through the end of April.

Transportation arrangements will need to be made for students who will be staying for the after school tutoring sessions as the school is unable to provide after school transportation at this time.

If you have any questions, please contact our ESS coordinator, Tracey Pierce, at 270-384-2751 ext. 133, between the hours of 7:45amCT and 2:45amCT.
