Patty Bunch: Spoiled by outstanding auction companies Outstanding conduct by Golden Rule Realty and Bryan Realty, she says, may have spoiled her; and says that may be why she wasn't ready for language and behavior at a sale held by another company - one whose sales, she says, she'll never attend again. By Patty Bunch Personal opinion of the writer I'm an EBAY seller and most of my weekends in good weather are spent at sales finding inventory for my business. Recently I attended an estate sale in another county; it was the the first I had attended held by this company, and I was disappointed in what I was presented with. A large number of the auctions I attend in Adair and Russell counties are held by Golden Rule Realty and Bryant Realty, and I guess I have become spoiled by the outstanding conduct of those companies. Never have I seen from either of these companies what I witnessed at the auction I've cited. At the sale, first of all, the foul language from the mouth of the auctioneer shocked me and offended me. One doesn't expect to hear that from business folks dealing with hundreds of people in one place. Secondly, when an item came up for sale there was no effort made to lift the item above the bed of the wagon, except by one of the fellows, and thanks to him, but he only handled a third of the items. No one could see what was selling except for the few who had a spot next to the wagon. Thirdly, the P.A. system was in bad shape and during the announcements it wasn't even used, and when it was used it was making all kinds of unpleasant noises. There was no announcement I heard stating the auctioneers would be bidding for themselves prior to the sale starting, and when some of the better antiques came up for sale, the auctioneer started the bid at an elevated price and continued to bid for himself. This is unethical, in my opinion, and may even be illegal if not announced prior to the sale beginning. I will not be attending anymore of that company's sales.
