KSP Commercial Vehicle division, investigating semi crash

Accident closes Western Kentucky Parkway for several hours after westbound tractor-trailer crossed into construction zone, striking stationery dump truck.

Kentucky State Police CVE Division and Post 4 Elizabethtown is currently investigating a commercial vehicle accident that closed the Western KY Parkway for several hours.



At approximately 3pmCT CST on April 10, 2014, a tractor and trailer was travelling west on the Western KY Parkway just outside the limits of Leitchfield when it crossed into the construction zone striking a stationary dump truck.

The tractor and trailer then rolled onto its side striking another construction vehicle that was parked in the median. KY Department of Highways set-up a detour during the removal of the vehicles and the roadway was opened back up to traffic around 2100 hrs.

No injuries were reported by the operators of the vehicles. Trooper Brandon Brooks and CVE Officer Jared Newberry are conducting the crash investigation. KY State Police were assisted by Grayson County Sheriff’s Office, Grayson County Fire and Rescue, KY Dept of Highways, and KY Dept of Environmental Protection. - Jared Newberry
