Robert Stone Poem: Rainbow clothed uneasy live

Rainbow clothed uneasy live
- a sonnet reflecting on Shakespeare's King Lear
One must not push another to reply
with answer that will bring unearned reward
for rainbow clothed uneasy live the lie
of greater letting lesser still seem lord.

One must not choose to cast away all care
by giving up responsibilities
for heir of some will soon seize assets bare
and turn the smooth to pricking small decrees.

One must not thrust advisors wise aside
with hasty declarations of desire
for present outbursts springing forth from pride
are only unsustainable false fire.

From titles power comes with nothing more
than access to potential's unlocked door.
