Evan Alton Shirley, Knob Lick, KY (d. March 31, 2014) A Marine veteran of World War II he served in the South Pacific for three years. He was a member of the Big Meadow Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon since 1961 and Sunday school teacher for several years. Click on headlline for complete obituary Evan Alton Shirley age 89 of Knob Lick died Monday March 31, 2014 at the T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow. Funeral services will be 2pmCT, Wednesday, April 2, 2014, at the Big Meadow Baptist Church with burial in the Church Cemetery. Visitation will be 4pm-8pmCT, Tuesday, April 1, 2014, and after 9amCT, Wednesday at the Butler Funeral Home, 201 East Street, Edmonton, KY. He was the son of the late Nathan Evin and Millie Gladys Kidd Shirley. A Marine veteran of World War II he served in the South Pacific for three years. He was a member of the Big Meadow Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon since 1961 and Sunday school teacher for several years. He is survived by his wife of 60 years Nadine Shirley of Knob Lick, KY, and the following:
