Shelby Dewey Key, age 69, of Beaver Dam, Kentucky, died March 27, 2014 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital, Owensboro, KY.

Visitation will begin Sunday, March 30, 2014, at 5pmCT, at the McMurtrey Funeral Home, 2232 Summer Shade Road, Summer Shade, KY. Funeral services will be Monday, March 31, 2014, at 1pmCT, at the funeral home, with burial to follow in the Chestnut Grove Cemetery, in Cumberland County.

He was born October 8, 1944, in Burkesville, Cumberland County, KY. He was the son of the late Ack and Esther Perkins Key, He died Thursday, March 27, 2014, in Owensboro, Daviess County, KY, at the age of 69 years, 5 months, and 19 days.

He was of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by the following:
  • Two sisters: Betty (Wood) Smith, Edmonton, KY; and Carolyn (Bee) Taylor, Summer Shade, KY

  • Four brothers: Delton (Virginia) Key, Glasgow, KY; Welby (Elaine) Key, Indianapolis, IN, Ira (Elsie) Key, Beaumont, KY; and Herman (Becky) Key, Smiths Grove, KY

  • And several nieces and nephews
He was preceded in death by his parents.

McMurtrey Funeral Home, 2232 Summer Shade Road, Summer Shade, KY in charge of arrangements.
