Busses were big part of Metcalfe County, KY, youth

Comments re photo 54102 Favorite old photo Greyhound stop Columbia 1968 by Jimmie Lowe Cravens, from Larry Smith collection

By Linda Waggener

Loved this photo reliving moments on the square when the bus rolled to a stop and the air brakes hissed as folks got off/on at the side of the old Miller Hotel.

Busses were a big part of my youth.

I enjoyed a memory of when my friend Jakie Parson (now Coffey) and I caught the mini bus which served Edmonton in front of her Mom's home by what was then the Ford dealership and is now the Barn-Lot Theater and headed for our families in Louisville.

I also enjoyed seeing the Adair courthouse in its original brick color, but I think I like it better the color it is today - with a little freshening up! Sort of like Mama's quote, "I'd like to be like Mother Teresa - only with a little makeup." That's how I'd like to see our Adair County courthouse maintained. - Linda
