Click on headline for story with photo(s) By Duane Bonifer News from Lindsey Wilson College The Petar Jankovic Ensemble will perform a concert at 6:30pmCT tonight, Friday, March 28. 2014 at Lindsey Wilson College's W.W. Slider Humanities Center Recital Hall, 155 Blue Raider Drive, Columbia, KY. The event is free and open to the public. The concert will last about 90 minutes. Area residents can enjoy a concert Friday night at Lindsey Wilson College before returning home to watch the latest "Game of the Century." "To accommodate residents who want to watch Friday night's basketball game between the University of Kentucky and the University of Louisville, we have moved up the concert's start time to 6:30," said LWC Cultural Affairs Chair Phil Hanna. "People can enjoy concert of great classical music, followed by a great basketball game." Selections to be performed at the March 28 concert include: Manuel De Falla's "Danza No. 1"; Isaac Albeniz's "Asturias"; children melodies by Claude Debussy; selections from Dmitri Shostakovich preludes and fugues; three tangos by Astor Piazzolla; and a Brazilian medley. The Petar Jankovic Ensemble is a unique chamber ensemble because it is a traditional string quartet, except it is led by Jankovic on guitar. Jankovic - an international award-winning musician and professor at the renowned Indiana University Jacobs School of Music - blends Spanish and Latin American influences with European traditions. In addition to Jankovic, the ensemble includes violinists Sophie Bird and Minju Kim, violist Rose Wollman and cellist Kyra Saltman.
