LWC's Chanel Roberts earns MSC Field Athlete of Week Honor LWC freshman Roberts, from Radcliff, KY, put together two top 10 finishes including winning the shot put event Click on headline for complete story By Charles Balcom COLUMBIA, KY - Chanel Roberts is the Mid-South Conference Field Athlete of the Week, conference officials announced on Monday, March 24, 2014. Roberts earns her first weekly conference award of the season and of her career. Roberts won the shot put and added a sixth place finish in the high jump over the weekend at the Emory University Invitational to earn the honor. The Radcliff, KY, freshman broke the program record in the shot put with a distance of 42 feet and 9 1/2 inches (13.04m). The distance was enough for first place in the event by more than a foot over second place. She broke the previous school record distance of 36 feet 9 3/4 inches (11.22m) set on March 24, 2010. In the high jump, Roberts broke her second program record of the day in her first collegiate track and field meet with a jump of 5-1 feet (1.55m). Roberts scored 13 of the team's 25 points in the two events.
