Adair Fire Dept. battles four fires Saturday, March 22, 2014 ACFD warns that any outdoor burning is very dangerous on windy days By Donald Hare, Public Informations Officer Adair County Fire Department The Columbia-Adair County Fire Departments were called out to several Grass Fires on Saturday. As a reminder that any outdoor burning is very dangerous on these windy days, No matter how wet you think the ground is, a fire can rapidly spread in an instant. Three acre field fire at 558 Rocky Hill Road At 12:32pmCT - Adair County Fire Department responded to 558 Rocky Hill Road to property owned by Gerald Reliford and occupied by Ricardo Hughes to a field fire, there was around 3 acres of property damaged with 9 firemen on the scene for around 40 minutes. Fire at Rocky Hill Road restarted At 1:30pmCT - responded back to the Rocky Hill Road property for a fire that had restarted and spread due to the high winds, an additional 1/2 acre burned with 10 firemen on the scene for 30 minutes. Small grass fire on Grady Loop At 5:32pmCT - The Columbia City Fire Dept responded to a grass fire on Grady Loop in Columbia small fire extinguished in about 20 minutes with minimal damage. Woods fire on Neva Faye Lane At 6:50pmCT - The Adair County Fire Dept. responded to 160 Neva Faye Lane for a grass and woods fire. Property owned by Gene Yarberry, there was about 1 acre of woods burned, Along with the 11 firemen on the scene for around 1 hour, The KY Division of Forestry also was notified.
