KY 88 to be reduced to one lane over I-65 west of Munfordville

Delays possible during peak morning and afternoon hours / width restrictions will be in place

By Chris Jessie, Public Affairs Officer
KY Transportation Cabinet, District 4, Elizabethtown, KY

ELIZABETHTOWN, KY (March 7, 2014) – Widening of Interstate 65 continues through Hart County, requiring several bridges to be reconstructed, including the KY 88 bridge over the interstate just west of Munfordville. Traffic on KY 88 will be reduced to one lane at the bridge beginning Monday, March 10th. The lane closure may create delays, especially during morning and afternoon peak travel times.Motorists should plan accordingly.

Width restrictions will also be in place during construction. Loads wider than 10 feet will not be permitted and must seek an alternate route.

Bridge access will be controlled by a signal, allowing alternating one-way traffic. Contract crews will rebuild one side of the bridge and then switch traffic to the opposite side to complete construction. Two lane travel across the bridge should resume by this summer. Chris Jessie
