Rebecca Beard: Sometimes things get out of control . . . Mother Nature for one 'Why fuss about things that happen? Why not just be grateful that you're alive, you have your family, food, and shelter.' - REBECCA BEARD Rebecca Beard Personal commentary Let me start by saying that, for the record, I do live out in the "boonies." Last time I checked Old Portland was out in the county. I personally think that the road crews do a great job. They did come by yesterday; they scraped and they salted our roads, but salt will only work if the temperature is high enough. Sometimes you just can't go on ice, even with 4 wheel drive. My husband and I are proud that our road crew department tries to make our roads safe. I doubt that an emergency vehicle could make it to our house either, but that's where a little common sense comes in handy. We were warned that this ice and snow was coming. With a few preparations, we were ready for it. My big question is what are people going to do when something horrific happens? Are they going to fuss and say that our county isn't doing enough? Sometimes, there are things that are out of our control, Mother Nature being one of those. Why fuss about things that happen? Why not just be grateful that you're alive, you have your family, food, and shelter. - Rebecca Beard Comments re article 65742 Kathryn Miller Stuck on Melson Ridge and unhappy about it This story was posted on 2014-03-04 19:07:50
