Pam Dailey: When you are snowed in, enjoy the day

By Pam Dailey

I know Mr. Troutwine spent years out west and understands winter weather. I lived my whole first half century in northern Indiana, getting the brunt of Lake Michigan weather. Iced with enough to topple the big metal electric towers like dominoes, two feet of snow on top of that, no power or water for six days, and a house full of kids to feed and horses to take care of will test your mettle. This little latest inconvenience of closed roads gives me a chance to play "white and black knights" with brooms for jousting sticks with great granddaughter in the snow, watch the birds at the feeders, photograph the icy trees, walk the hills, and giggle at a sedan trying to make it up a steep grade on our one lane gravel road. It will soon melt. Enjoy the day. - Pam Dailey
