COLUMBIA, KY - England Smith pitched eight innings, holding Campbellsville (KY) to two runs as Lindsey Wilson earned a 5-2 Mid-South Conference win Friday at Egnew Park.

Alex Bautista, Trey Davis and Leonardo Ramirez each batted 2-for-4 to lead the Blue Raiders (10-9, 1-0 MSC). Michael Rosario hit 1-for-4, scoring two Lindsey Wilson runs. Shugart, Silva and Bautista each brought in a run. Smith used 141 pitches to strike out five batters and walk two while allowing eight hits for two earned runs.

Campbellsville tested Smith early after several Lindsey Wilson errors helped load the bases with only one out in the top of the first inning. Smith struck out Campbellsville's Alex Kline and induced a grounder to second to get out of the inning.

Smith earned two quick outs in the top of the second inning, but a single, a passed ball and a balk moved the Campbellsville runner to third base. A Gentry Kinsella single to right put Campbellsville up 1-0, however a force out ended the damage.

The Blue Raiders got on the board in the bottom of the fifth inning, collecting three errors on three hits and two errors by the Tigers. Davis reached safely on a wild throw by Ricky McColloch, then moved to third on a Ramirez single through the hole at second. Shugart brought in Davis and reached first on a fielder's choice. Silva followed by singling down the right field line, scoring Ramirez and moving Shugart to third. Bautista would put the Blue Raiders up 3-1 with a single past the shortstop.

The Tigers trimmed the Lindsey Wilson lead to 3-2 with a run in the sixth, but the Blue Raiders distanced themselves in the bottom of the eighth, scoring two runs on three hits to go up 5-2. Sam Ross came in to close the ninth, earning the save with two groundouts and a strikeout.

Kinsella was 3-for-5 with two RBIs for the Tigers (5-5, 0-1 MSC). Jaime Valle, Carlos Torres, Kline, Alex Scanlan and McColloch each had a hit. Bret DeRooy picked up the loss, allowing five runs, two of them earned, after pitching eight innings.
