Special to ColumbiaMagazine.com

Freshman 6'4" forward Chance Melton scored his 1000th career point and it could not have come at a better time. Melton entered last nights game needing 10 points to join the club.

He connected on 13 of 20 field goal tries and made one free throw on his way to a 25 point performance helping the Indians come back from an 18 point first half deficit and an 11 point third period deficit on their way to a thrilling 61-60 victory over Marion County.

Adair County Indians head coach Mark Fudge said he believes Melton is the only Adair County player to score 1000 points by the end of his freshman season. Melton broke in to the starting lineup early in his seventh grade season. Melton also pulled down 10 rebounds giving him a double-double in the Indians win.
