Peggy Fudge: Different libraries have different, unique needs Writer details problems she sees with cost reduction ideas as propounded by by Ed Pipalski By Peggy Fudge Commentary Am I understanding Mr. Pipalski correctly? He wants to consolidate our school and public libraries? Not just the administration, but the facilities and the numerous assets? My first concern is access, as in, who has access to the libraries? The public can stroll into the public library without even showing a library card. A school library is designed for daily, easy accessability by students, and the general public should not have that kind of free access to a school - certainly not in this day of predators and other crazies. Students should have 'as needed' access to the library. A centralized facility would logistically limit this. There are numerous other concerns that I won't address. BTW, I have no connection to the schools or library other than being a tax payer with a great interest in the well-being of both institutions. - Peggy Fudge Comments re article 65565 Ed Pipalski proposes consolidating public library administrations This story was posted on 2014-02-26 11:23:49
