LWC hosts road, criterium bike races Sat.-Sun, Feb. 22-23, 2014

Races at three sites: Kelleyville, Purdy, and Adair County High School

COLUMBIA, KY - The Lindsey Wilson cycling team hosts the Lindsey Wilson College Road Race and Criterium on Saturday and Sunday, February 22-23, 2014 in Columbia, KY. The Lindsey Wilson time trial, starts at 8amCT, Saturday morning, is a 12K out-and-back course, which starts at Kelleyville Church, 77 Kellyville Road, Columbia, KY, The road race, a 25 mile loop, starts at 12pm noon CT, at Purdy Church, 8004 Liberty Road, Columbia, KY. The criterium race is Sunday, February 22, 2014 starting at 9amCT, a one kilometer, four corner race on Adair County High School property at 526 Indian Drive, Columbia, KY.



The event brings in MidWest Collegiate Cycling Conference teams including Marian (IN), Lindenwood (IL) and Michigan Tech. Riders from Saint Louis (MO), Wisconsin-Madison, Michigan-Ann Arbor, Notre Dame (IN), DePaul (IL), Butler (IN) and Indiana-Bloomington will be racing in the road and criterium races.

The team time trial begins at 8amCT on Saturday morning. The road race begins at noon CT with the men's A starting first (75 miles), followed by men's B at 12:05pmCT. (50 miles) and the women's A at 12:10pmCT 50 Miles). The men's C starts at 12:15pmCt, the men's D/Intro at 12:20pmCT and the women's B and C at 12:25pmCT all three of these races is 25 miles in length.

On Sunday, the criterium race - which is for both collegiate and non-collegiate participants - starts with the men's A at 9amCT followed by women's A at 10:15amCT, women's B/Intro at 11:15amCT, men's B at noon, men's C at 1pmCT and men's D and Intro at 1:45pmCT The men's Cat 1 and 2 start at 2:30pmCT followed by men's Cat 3 and 4 at 3:45pmCT and the women's open at 4:45 p.m. The criterium race is a timed race plus two laps. -Jay R. Cycling takes center stage in Columbia today and Sunday

One of the world's most colorful sports takes center stage
today and tomorrow in Adair County. The races are the big thing, but there are also scenes like this one yesterday afternoon when dozens of cyclists went on an impromptu ride across the Lindsey Wilson A.P. White Campus, seeming to zoom around the Administration building out of nowhere, and in no time flat, had disappeared over Lindsey Hill.
