The Barnetts Creek solution to meet candidates in person Congregation will hold a candidate forum, mix and mingle Comments re article 65433 Doesnt want candidates to come to her door By Bill Troutwine Personal commentary I have a solution to door knocking visits by political candidates. Last night at our church (Barnett's Creek United Methodist Church) business meeting the attending members voted to have a spaghetti dinner and invite all Adair County candidates to attend. Each attending candidate will be given 3 to 5 minutes to tell everyone what they have to offer and why they deserve your vote. We believe most all the Pellyton community will be attending, and all candidates will also be able to mix and mingle with the crowd. With the majority of our community attending we feel this will give everyone a chance to meet and listen to what each candidate's platform consists of, giving voters a chance to make an educated decision on who to vote for. This should eliminate the need for personal visits within the community, and still give candidates and voters ample time to converse. Tentatively, we are planning to hold the dinner on April the 26, at 4pmCT. All candidates planning to attend please either contact Bro. Barry Bradshaw (270-566-2463) or Bill Troutwine (270-385-9597) We will be making a formal post soon and I will also be attempting to contact any candidate who doesn't contact us. --Bill Troutwine This story was posted on 2014-02-20 08:22:58
