Pennies for Patients fundraiser follows Dawson Fisher drive ACPC students, with help of community, raised over $3,000 for Fisher family Click on headline for complete story with photo By Patty Jones, Principal, Adair County Primary Center The students of Adair County Primary Center, 158 Col. Casey Drive, Columbia, KY 42728, just completed their Pennies for Patients fundraiser drive for the Kentucky Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. This effort came on the heels of having had a fundraising effort to support the family of Dawson Fisher, a student at ACPC who was burned in a fire accident in December. The students raised over $3000 for Dawson's family with the support of the community, local businesses, and churches. All of these funds were given to the family in the form of gas cards, restaurant cards, grocery cards, and phone payments. The family was very appreciative and both Tina Ford, Dawson's mother, and Donna Ford, Dawson's grandmother, wish to convey their thanks to all involved. Now, just a few weeks later the students of Adair County Primary Center banded together to raise over $3000 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Leading the way was our own hero, Blane Bardin, who is a leukemia survivor and local celebrity in his own right. He is pictured below with the Fundraiser Poster for the event that shows the school going over the top of the "thermometer". You can tell he is a bit excited and proud. Blane is the son of Shawn and Kasey Bardin. This story was posted on 2014-02-14 05:51:04
