Jameel Bryant, LWC, earns MSC Wrestler of the Week honors It marks the third time this season Bryant has received the award Click on headline for complete story By Charles Balcom COLUMBIA, KY - Lindsey Wilson senior Jameel Bryant is the Mid-South Conference Wrestler of the Week, conference officials announced today, Tuesday, February 11, 2014. The weekly honor is the third this season for Bryant. He also earned the award on November 26 and December 10, 2013. He is the first three-time winner of the award this season. Bryant went 3-0 last week, including beating a pair of nationally ranked grapplers to help the No. 6-ranked Blue Raiders to a 2-1 dual record during the week. The St. Petersburg, FL, native opened the week with a 3-2 decision over Cumberland's (Williamsburg, KY) Cody Linton - ranked No. 3 in the NAIA - at the 184-pound match on Tuesday. Bryant's win helped the Blue Raiders to a 25-10 win over the No. 10-ranked Bulldogs. The dual win secured the Mid-South Conference regular season title for Lindsey Wilson. Bryant earned another 3-2 decision over Life's (Ga.) Trey Hicks - ranked No. 5 in the NAIA - in the Blue Raiders' 39-3 win over the No. 20-ranked Running Eagles on Friday. Bryant - who is ranked No. 1 at 184 pounds in the NAIA - completed the week with a 15-8 decision over Indiana Tech's L.J. Grayson on Friday. The No. 8-ranked Warriors upset No. 6 Lindsey Wilson 21-18 in the dual. With his wins, Bryant improves to 21-4 on the season and 13-1 in duals. His four losses this year have all come against NCAA competition, including his one loss in duals. He is a perfect 10-0 against NAIA competition.
