COLUMBIA, KY - Two rising stars in the classical music universe will give a chamber concert that celebrates composers from the 19th century to the present February 21, 2014, at Lindsey Wilson College.

Cellist Gabriel Cabezas and pianist Amy Yang will perform works by Claude Debussy, Dmitri Shostakovich, Benjamin Britten, Leos Janacek and Osvaldo Golijov.

The concert is made possible in part by the non-profit organization Partners in Performance, an initiative that aims to keep chamber music alive and accessible in America's heartland.

"This is sure to be a memorable evening full of rich musical and lyrical impressions," said LWC Cultural Affairs Chair Phil Hanna. "Both of these exciting musicians have extremely promising careers in the field of classical music, and they will perform a selection of music that should stir the soul in the middle of winter. Southcentral Kentucky is fortunate to have two musicians of this caliber perform."

The program will feature "Omaramor" by Argentine composer Osvaldo Golijov, who was a 2003 recipient of a MacArthur Fellowship, known as a "Genius Grant."

Other works to be performed include "Pohadka (Fairy Tale)" by Czech composer Leo
