Janice Holt Giles inducted into KY Writers Hall of Fame Ceremony takes plae January 23, 2014, at the Carnegie Center in Lexington. Giles' last residence was Knifley, KY, but she had also lived in Campbellsville and Columbia. Click on headline for complete story with photo(s) By Susan Lewis News from the Giles Society Janice Holt Giles from Knifley, KY but had also lived in Campbellsville and Columbia KY at various times, was inducted into The Kentucky Writers Hall of Fame on January 23, 2014 at The Carnegie Center at Lexington, KY. Mrs. Giles was the author of about 25 books from 1950 -1975. In order to be eligible to be inducted into The Kentucky Writers Hall of Fame in 2014, the writer must be deceased, published, someone whose writing is of enduring stature and someone connected in a significant way to the Commonwealth of Kentucky. A brief biography and a picture of each inductee was shared with the audience of about 150 at the induction ceremony at The Carnegie Center in Lexington, KY. Other Kentucky authors inducted in 2014, the second annual class of inductees, were Rebecca Caudill, Thomas D. Clark, James Baker Hall, Etheridge Knight, Thomas Merton, and Jesse Stuart. The Giles Society owns and preserves the Giles Log House and 10 acres where Janice Holt Giles and her husband Henry Giles (also an author) lived for over 20 years. From now through March annually The Giles Society is involved in their membership drive. Donations of $30 each year helps The Giles Society renovate and preserve the property and legacy of the Giles authors.
