LWC Women's Basketball Goes Pink to Honor Cancer Survivors COLUMBIA, Ky. -- Members of the Lindsey Wilson College women's basketball team altered their school's colors of blue and white for Thursday night's game against Bluefield (Va.) College at Biggers Sports Center. The Blue Raiders added pink to their uniforms at a "Pink Out" to honor area cancer survivors. Part of the Play 4Kay initiative, a "Pink Out" benefits the Kay Yow Fund, which was founded in 2007 by the late college basketball coach Kay Yow. The Lindsey Wilson Student Government Association sold pink t-shirts at the game to help raise money for the cause. During halftime of the game, the following area cancer survivors and their family members were honored at a halfcourt ceremony: Kimberly Gutelius, Martha Lacy, Michelle Murrell, Llesie Wilson and Kevin Wisdom, all of Columbia, and Jackie Cundiff of Liberty, Ky. The Blue Raiders won the game, 75-73. Lindsey Wilson's next game is against University of Pikeville (Ky.) at 2 p.m. CT on Saturday, Feb. 15, at Biggers Sports Center, 360 Spickard Drive. A men's game against UPike will follow. This story was posted on 2014-02-07 18:02:39
