Fire Department fights five fires Sat., Feb. 1, 2014 Burn barrel gets out of control; 2 acres of ground fire; 30-40 acres with one vacant trailer; half-acre grass fire; and auto accident with injury on Saturday's call list. Click on headline for full story with details By Donald Hare News from the Adair County Fire Department Saturday, February 1, 2014, proved to be a very busy day with the nice weather and high winds, The Adair County Fire Dept responded to 5 separate calls for service on Saturday. Here is a list of calls: 11:39amCT - 2060 Shiloh Cemetary Road where a burn barrel got out of control; property owner, Paul Carter, and occupied by Steve Moore, There were 9 firemen on the scene for around 45 minutes with around 1/2 acre of ground burned. 12:51pmCT - 2926 Sano Road and Rooks Denton Road Intersection to property owned by Kenneth Walker grass fire with around 30-40 acres or ground burned and one vacant trailer. Firefighters were on the scene for around 2.5 hours fighting the blaze with assistance from the Russell Springs Fire Department. 3:01pmCT - to 630 Fairplay Road to property owned by Kim Barnett with 2 acres of ground burned firefighters on scene around 30 minutes containing this blaze. with assistance from Breeding Fire Department. 3:27pmCT - to 154 Randy Young Road off of Hwy 900 to property owned by Nicholas Hale with a grass fire from burning trash with around 1/2 acre of ground burned. 4:54pmCT to an auto accident with injuries on KY Hwy East-80 Report coming from Adair County Sheriff's Department.
