Election 2014: Six candidates file before deadline, 1 withdraws

At the deadline for filing for county-wide offices past, 59 candidates had entered the race; counting the withdrawal of Wm M. Feese, Jr, - the total is 58. Filing continues for Independents, Candidates for City of Columbia offices, for School Board, and for Soil Conservation District Board members

With the deadline passed at 4pmCT, a total of six candidates have filed on the final day. Including a surprise filing, with Jeff Feese, momentarily, being filed as a candidate for the office for which his dad, Wm. Matt Feese, Jr. was a candidate. The puzzling situation was resolved moments later when his father walked submitting a request to withdraw from the race. Jeff Feese, running for the first time, will be elected home-free, with no other candidate on the 2014 primary ballot and no Republican filing for the office.

Filing after 2pmCT this afternoon were:
  • Kelly M. Hamlett, for Magistrate, District 2, Republican
  • Michael Dale Sneed, for County Court Clerk, Republican
  • Jeff Feese, for Adair County Property Valuation Administrator, Democrat
As previously reported, three more candidates filed today before 2pmCT:
  • Brenda Mann, for Adair County Clerk, Republican
  • Mike Mitchum, for Magistrate, District 5, Republican
  • Steve Foster, for Constable, District 7, Republican
