Colorado Rapids select Edward in 4th Round, of MLS SuperDraft SOCCER: Lindsey Wilson's Albert Edward is the lone NAIA player to be selected in the 2014 Major League Soccer SuperDraft. Six Blue Raiders have played in the MLS, with Edward becoming the fifth to be taken in the Super Draft. He is also the third Blue Raider to be drafted that played all four years at Lindsey Wilson. The other two include Shaun Francis and Lebogang Moloto Click on headline for complete story By Pierce Yarberry News from Lindsey Wilson Men's Soccer program COLUMBIA, KY - Albert Edward has been selected by the Colorado Rapids as the 68th overall pick in Round Four of the 2014 Major League Soccer SuperDraft. The senior defender from Brisbane, Australia made seven starts in 16 games for Lindsey Wilson this season, scoring a goal and adding three assists. Edward's efforts helped the Blue Raiders (17-4-2) secure the Mid-South Conference regular season title and a trip to the NAIA National Championship as the No. 2 seed. Lindsey Wilson made it to the semifinals before falling to No. 11 Auburn-Montgomery (AL) 2-1 in overtime. The MLS SuperDraft is split between two days, with this year's first two rounds held on January 16, followed by the final two rounds on January 21, 2014. In his four years at Lindsey Wilson, Edward started in 57 games with 71 appearances and scored four goals with seven assists. He earned All-MSC Honorable Mention Honors in 2012, Academic All-MSC Honors in 2013 and helped win the NAIA National Championship in 2011. The Blue Raiders reached the NAIA National Championship Semifinals three of the four years Edward was on the team.
