Donald Matney, 52, of Spencer, Iowa, formerly of Adair County, died Monday January 6, 2014 at 5:33pmCT, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Funeral services will be Saturday, January 11, 2014 at 11amCT/12pm noon ET, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Wayne Keith officiating. Burial will be in Lee Cemetery in Green County. Visitation will be after 4pmCT/5pmET Friday, January 10, 2014. Casket Bearers will be Charlie Dial, Chris Dial, Michael Matney, Ralph Curry, James Garrison and Lewis Garrison.

He was born July 2, 1961, in Green County, KY. He was the son of the late Vernie Adell Matney. He died Monday, January 6, 2014, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, at the age of 52 years, 6 months, and 4 days.

He was a welder.

Survivors include the following:
  • Two sons: Kyle Matney of Louisiana and Josh Lewis of Columbia, KY

  • One daughter: Shannon Matney of Columbia, KY

  • Two brothers: Bobby (Martha) Matney of Columbia, KY, and Danny Matney of Lexington, KY

  • Two sisters: Riva (Tony) Scott and Rita (Charlie) Dial all of Columbia, KY

  • Several other relatives and friends
