One person injured in crash on icy New Columbia Road Tuesday Black ice was cause of crash, Taylor County Sheriff's Office finds Click on headline for complete story with photo(s) See Also: Injury accident temporarily closes KY 55 By Larry Smith, FM 92.7, The WAVE, & FM 99.9, The Big Dawg Special to ColumbiaMagazine.com Nathaniel Echols, 68, of High Pine Street, Campbellsville, KY, was transported to the Taylor Regional Hospital in Campbellsville, KY, after the Campbellsville/Taylor County EMS extracted him from his overturned 2002 Ford F-150 pickup, Tuesday, January 7, 2014, at around 10:28amET. According to the Taylor County Sheriff's Department (TCSO) Echols was traveling South on KY 55 South, New Columbia Road, when he struck a path of black ice, causing him to lose control, strike a guard rail and overturn. For a time, traffic was stopped in both directions at the crash scene, between the South Green River Hill and the Texas Eastern Transmission Station near Romines Loop. At times during the operation, traffic was allow past the scene one lane at a time. After the driver was extracted from his vehicle, he was transported to the hospital in Campbellsville for non-life threatening injuries.
