The Taylor County Sheriff's Department found two people dead at 4301 East Finley Ridge Road in northern Taylor County near the Marion County line after answering a call from Roger Warren that Karyn Rae Meeks, 39, had been shot with a crossbow and was bleeding profusely. The call came at approximately 10:50amET, on Tuesday, January 7, 2014. While enroute, a deputy received a call from Roger Warren that the perpetrator, Paul Dewayne Sprowles, had armed himself with a shotgun.

When deputies arrived on the scene at 10:59amET, they found Sprowles, 38, of Campbellsville, KY, dead from what appeared to be a self-inflited gunshot wound. The Taylor County Coroner's office pronounced both Sprowles and Meeks deceased at the scene.

The TCSO reports that the investigation led to the conclusion that Meeks and Sprowles had been living together and that the incident stemmed from a domestic dispute.

The investigation continue and autopsies are scheduled for Wednesday, January 8, 2014, in Louisville, KY.
