Taylor County Fire & Rescue has busy time in sub-zero weather Firefighers respond to 7 calls Monday-Tuesday, January 6-7, 2014, including fire which destroyed A-1 Auto Sales. owned by CH on South Central Avenue, Campbellsville, KY, as firemen had to shuttle water to scene because of frozen hydrants. A total of six departments from Campbellsville, Taylor County, Green County, Adair County, Summersville, and Knifley Fire Departments responded to that one. By Ann Sanders News from Taylor Co. Fire & Rescue, Campbellsville, KY Campbellsville and Taylor County Fire & Rescue encountered a busy time during the below zero weather. Residence fire at 1943 Knifley Road The action began on Monday night, January 6, 2014, at 8:53pmET, when Taylor County Fire & Rescue answered a call to 1943 Knifley Road, Campbellsville, KY, where a residence received moderate to heavy damage. Firefighters were on the scene for four hours. Fire alarm sounding - no fire - at Campbellsville Post Office Monday night at 8:55pmET, Campbellsville Fire & Rescue answered a call to the United States Post Office on East Broadway where a fire alarm was sounding. No fire was discovered. Sprinkler head malfunction sets off alarm at Creekside Restauraant Monday night at 11:56pmET, Campbellsville Fire & Rescue answered a fire alarm at Creekside Restaurant on New Lebanon Road. A sprinkler head had malfunctioned causing water damage. Fire of electrical origin causes minor damage at 230 Eads Street Campbellsville Fire & Rescue answered a call early Tuesday morning at 12:12amET at 230 Eads Street. The fire was of an electrical origin causing minor damage. Fire of electrical origin confined to attic at 223 Risen Avenue At 1:47amET, Tuesday morning Campbellsville Fire & Rescue answered a call to 223 Risen Avenue. This fire was also of electrical origin and confined to the attic. Frozen hydrants require shuttling of water to fight fire at A-1 Auto Sales Campbellsville Fire & Rescue answered a call at 2:25amET, Tuesday morning at A1 Auto Sales located on South Central Ave. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered heavy fire throughout the building. Firefighting operations were hampered by the below zero temperatures and frozen fire hydrants. Water had to be shuttled in by tankers. A total of six departments from Campbellsville, Taylor County, Green County, Adair County, Summersville, and Knifley Fire Departments responded. The business along with several automobiles was a total loss. South Central Avenue was closed for several hours due to icing from firefighting operations. Firefighters respond to fire alarm - no fire - at Montgomery Library, CU At 2:59amET, Campbellsville Fire & Rescue responded to Campbellsville University Library for a fire alarm. No fire was found.
