Wind Chill Advisory in effect to 11amCT, Tues. Jan. 7, 2014

Remember farm animals, pets, too

At 4:12amCT, the National Weather Service in Louisville, KY was advising that the Wind Chill Advisory would remain in effect until until 11amCT/12pmET, Tues. Jan. 7, 2014, and included these notes:
"TIMING: Temperatures will continue to plummet early this morning reaching the single digits above zero by around sunrise. temperatures will then remain around zero or in the single digits above zero today through Tuesday morning. Strong west- northwest winds of 15 to 20 mph will gust up to around 30 mph today. west winds tonight into tuesday morning will decrease to 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph.

"IMPACTS: Bitterly cold temperatures combined with strong winds will result in wind chill values from 15 below zero to 20 below zero today through tuesday morning. temperatures this cold will pose a danger of frost bite and hypothermia if precautions are not taken. also exposed water pipes may freeze and could burst during the extreme cold.

"PRECAUTIONARY PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS: If you must be outdoors in the extreme cold...wear proper clothing. also take measures to protect farm animals and family pets from the frigid temperatures." - NWS
