Larry Smith: It's cold and there's ice - use common sense

By Larry Smith, 99.9 FM the Big Dawg; 92.7 FM the WAVE

It's cold outside - 4 degrees outside The WAVE Studio atop Radio Hill, Columbia/Russell Springs. And the wind chill (goober: windshield) factor today will be 4 degrees all day, we're hearing.

It's a common or uncommon sense day: Use common sense and you stand a better chance of being ok. Travel between Columbia and Campbellsville is good, but there is patchy ice in some places. Back roads and some city streets in the area another thing. Many of them are treacherous.

As we've been announcing on the WAVE and Big Dawg: There are a number of school closings in the area: Adair County; Campbellsville Independent, Kentucky Christian Academy, and Taylor County; Green County, and Russell County Schools are all closed because of the weather.

Remember to do some good in the neighborhood today. Check on neighbors, particularly the elderly. And stay tuned to the WAVE and the Big Dawg - for the latest. - Larry Smith
