Adair Boys basketball finishes 4th at T J Sampson Classic Next:The Indians will host Todd County Central Thursday night, January 2, 2014 at 7:45pmCT, in the first round of the Lindsey Wilson College Classic at John Burr Memorial Gymnasium, 526 Indian DR, Columbia, KY. Special to ColumbiaMagazine.com After an opening round win on Thursday night Adair County fell to Whitley County 52-49 on Friday night and then fell to Barren County 65-45 last night. Whitley County improved to 8-4 and Barren improved to 9-2. The Indians record is now 5-5 on the year. After an 11 all tie after one period the Indians led 25-21 at halftime and 37-31 after three periods. The Tribe led 44-33 with 6:00 remaining and 49-45 with a minute remaining but Whitley battled back and took the 52-49 decision. Chance Melton led the Indians with 12 points while Matt Fudge scored 11. Rounding out the scoring were Marshall Shelley 7, Jacob Pooler 9, Ty Bennett 5, Zach Hutchison 3, and Jake Hixson 2. Melton had 9 rebounds and 3 assists while Shelley had 7 rebounds. Leading 5-4 the Trojans went on a 16-2 run and never looked back. Barren led 40-23 at halftime and 48-32 after three periods before settling for the 65-45 decision. Once again Chance Melton led the Indians with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Rounding out the scoring were Jacob Pooler 7, Ty Bennett 6, Matt Fudge 5, Corey Melton 5, Zach Hutchison 4, Marshall Shelley 3, Noah Polston 2, Gabe Alfaro 2, and Cameron Lasley 1.
