New afterschool program will open in January 2014

Program, called G.R.A.C.E - Green River Arts' Commitment to Excellence, will be located at 106 Jamestown Street in Dream Depot Building

By Darlene Campbell

We are planning to open an afterschool program in January called Green River Arts' Commitment to Excellence [G.R.A.C.E.]. It will be located at 106 Jamestown Street [Dream Depot Building] and will be open from 3pm-5:30pmCT. The program actually runs from 3:30pm-5:30pmCT.

The program will open four days a week and will offer classes, on alternating days, in drawing/painting, guitar and kung fu. Our art students will host an annual art show for the Columbia community. We will hold recitals for music students and our martial arts students will do an annual public performance in the summer. We want it to be more than an afterschool program, more than a local business, we want it to be a way to bring the arts, kids and citizens of this community together in establishing a rich and on-going tradition. - Darlene Campbell
