Click on headline for complete report with photo(s) By Victoria Pike Thursday night, December 5, 2013, the Adair County Democrat Executive Committee and the Adair County Democratic Women's Club held their annual end of year celebration at Lindsey Wilson College's Cranmer Dining Center. A large crowd almost 100 came out to hear our guest speaker, Adam Edelen, Kentucky State Auditor. Mr. Edelen spoke of growing up in a farming family and wanting to go on to be of public service to the people of Kentucky. He expressed his deep belief in equal opportunity for all and closed with his sincere appreciation for all that came out for the celebration. Following, master of ceremonies, Ben Loy, Chairman, introduced Victoria Pike, President of the Democrat Women's Club, who, in turn, presented Jordan Humphress, 2013 Scholarship winner to the crowd. Jordan thanked the ladies for their help toward his education. Resolutions of Respect were presented to the Martha Martin and Jean McLean families from the Kentucky Democratic Women's Club. Those accepting were Ben Burris, Becky Nash, Bro. Raymond Martin, and Charles Barnes for the Martin family and Lynn McLean for the McLean family. Thanks were given to the retiring officers, Jamie Shelley, Sandy Rogers, Robin Hancock, and Glenda Butler. Ben Loy then installed the new officers for 2014-15. They are Victoria Pike, President; Cynthia Rowe, Vice President; Robin Hancock, Secretary; and Glenda Butler, treasurer. We also had Joey George from the Marion County Young Democrats in attendance. - Victoria Pike This story was posted on 2013-12-09 18:06:13
