By Judy Hachey Lake Area Foundation, LCADD As 2013 comes to a close, many people are looking for tax-deductible charitable opportunities. The Lake Area Foundation offers citizens an opportunity to assist regional and local causes by donating to permanent endowment funds. To date, the Lake Area Foundation offers a collection of more than 20 permanent endowment funds designed to provide for current and future needs. These flexible funds make it easy for people from all walks of life to contribute to causes that matter to them. The principal of these funds remains intact forever, with the income generated annually invested back into the community through grants that tackle today's needs and prepare for tomorrow's challenges. Established in July 2012, the Lake Area Foundation, which operates under the arm of the Lake Cumberland Area Development District, is a community foundation that serves Adair, Casey, Clinton, Cumberland, Green, McCreary, Pulaski, Russell, Taylor and Wayne counties. Citizens who are looking to make year-end charitable contributions may want to consider these regional funds:
