ACES Fourth Graders design gingerbread characters Artwork inspired by reading over Thanksgiving holiday Click on headline for story with photo(s) By Rachel Bardin, 4th Grade Teacher Adair County Elementary School (ACES) To encourage the fourth graders at Adair County Elementary School to continue reading over Thanksgiving break, the students were asked to design a gingerbread cookie to look like the main character in the book they chose to read over the break. In one of the accompanying pictures is Case Cowan who read Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Third Wheel. Case did an excellent job designing the gingerbread cookie to look like the main character in the book, Greg, and also describing Greg's character traits in the book! Reading is sweet! In the other photo, Kayla Shepherd, Andy Willis, and Hannah Womack. Hannah read The Wonderful Wizard of Oz and designed a "Dorothy" cookie. Andy read A Very Scary Valentine's Day and designed a "Shaggy" cookie. Kayla read Barbie: A Fashion Fairytale and designed a "Barbie" cookie. We are so proud of all of the students who chose to read over Thanksgiving break and complete the gingerbread cookie project! Reading is sweet! - Rachel Bardin This story was posted on 2013-12-02 13:36:59
