The Christmas Season starts in earnest in Adair County today

The countdown is on. Five days to Christmas in Columbia 2013 - A Storybook Christmas, one of Kentucky's destination celebrations, with more than ever this year. CM will do its best to keep you posted, with a suggestion to readers to follow all the Events Scheduled for the day, daily on the Main Page of CM, and look ahead in the CM Events Calendar for the days and months ahead.

Special CM Christmas kickoff announcement

This weekend, Adair Countians were more content to observe Thanksgiving before diving into the Christmas Season - no Labor Day or Fourth of July kickoff for Christmas for here, thank you very much - but excitement and anticipation is running high for the burst out of the 23rd Columbia/Adair County Chamber of Commerce Christmas in Columbia.

Street decorations will go up this week.

Preparations for Lindsey Wilson College's Christmas Carnival - with Santa and Ms. Santa arriving by fire truck -are underway.

The Columbia Women's Club has one of the most interesting Homes Tours planned. Details and are coming soon from Vonnie Kolbenschag.

The Adair Heritage Association will showcase the Courthouse with a Christmas Bazaar. And maybe the highpoint of the week - maybe even of the year - will be the beautiful 23rd Annual Christmas Parade, one of Kentucky's most spectacular under the lights, on Saturday night, at 6pmCT, December 7, 2013.

There are high hopes for the another Tradition of Excellence in the making, The 2nd Annual Columbia Christmas Chorus, with the massed choirs which already include the Trinity United Methodist Church and Columbia Christian Church Choirs, and the voices of Karen Pescosolido and Sharon Payne, raising praise on high in thanks for God's greatest gift. The chorus will perform while the Parade is proceeding from the staging area at McCammish Mfg. on Industrial Drive, North on Jamestown Street, toward and around the Square.
