Patricia Ann Long Stone, 57, Burkesville, KY, (1955-2013)

She was a native of Warren County, KY, formerly of Burkesville, KY, and was a resident of Memphis, TN, at the time of her death. She was of the Methodist faith, a 1975 graduate of Lindsey Wilson College and a 1977 graduate of Eastern Kentucky University and had a career as a teacher in Memphis, TN, as well as Virginia and Florida. Patricia led a full life, one of travel, experiences and friendships. She visited many different countries, climbed mountains, and skydived, all to see the glory the world held. She loved teaching, basketball, her family traditions, and being around her grandchildren. She was the widow of John Stone. She leaves 9 direct living descendants.

Patricia Ann Long Stone, age 57, of Memphis Tennessee, formerly of Burkesville, Kentucky passed away at her residence in Memphis, Tennessee on Tuesday November 26, 2013.

Funeral services for Patricia Long Stone will be on Sunday December 1, 2013 at 3pmCT, in the Memory Chapel of Norris-New Funeral Home, 601 N Main Street, Burkesville, KY, with Rev. John Stone II officiating. The family will receive friends after 1pmCT, Sunday, December 1, 2013 until the funeral hour.



Patricia Ann Long Stone, 57, Burkesville, KY, (1955-2013)

She was born in Bowling Green, Warren County, Kentucky on Tuesday, December 13, 1955, the daughter of Hoy and Hazel Wingfield Long. She died in Memphis, Shelby County, TN, on Tuesday, November 26, 2013, at the age of 57 years, 11 months, and 17 days.

She was of Methodist faith, a 1975 graduate of Lindsey Wilson College and a 1977 graduate of Eastern Kentucky University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. She was an English teacher in the Memphis City School System from 1985 until 2012 and also held teaching positions in Virginia and Florida. She was honored in the Who's Who of Tennessee Teachers in 1991 and the Who's Who Among America's Teachers in 2000 and 2005.

Patricia led a full life, one of travel, experiences and friendships. She visited many different countries, climbed mountains, and skydived, all to see the glory the world held. She loved teaching, basketball, her family traditions, and being around her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her husband, John Stone, whom she married on Saturday, December 9, 1978.

She is survived by the following:
  • Her son and daughter-in-law: John II and Elizabeth Stone of Byrdstown, Tennessee

  • Her daughter and son-in-law: Jennifer Stone Campbell and Justin Campbell of Milledgeville, Tennessee

  • Her grandchildren: Gregory, Taylor, Avery, Brody, Jaycee Madison Campbell, Jesson Gary Campbell and Jaina Benton Campbell

  • And her two beloved dogs: Kingsfield and Buckshot, both whom have been adopted into the Campbell family
