Funeral processions: When it is hazard to stop, just slow down Commentary: Showing respect to family is important thing, VFW Post Commander says By Joe Hare As a Patriot Guard Rider I am a part of many funeral processions, across the state and feel when meeting such a procession we need to show respect. Whether there is a law that covers us stopping in respect, I don't know. With that said I also know in some places on some roads it can be a hazard to stop. When in a location that is a hazard we can always slow down and pull as far to the right as we can, and even turn on our lights and/or flashers. These kind of roads do not have a minimum speed limit, and by doing this we should stay safe. If the grieving family sees that we are respecting their loss, then we have accomplished what we should be doing. The people that pass and speed away as the person described by Betty Coop, needs a lesson in respect. Lets all stay safe, but please show respect for our deceased. If we don't respect others, we are not respecting ourselves. - Joe Hare, the writer of this article, is a Patriot Guard Rider and Commander of VFW Post 6097, Columbia, KY This story was posted on 2013-11-24 07:26:20
