Geary Shelton Wood, age 72 of Glasgow, KY, died Thursday, November 21, 2013 at St.Thomas Hospital in Nashville, TN. Funeral services will be Sunday, November 24, 2013, at 1pmCT, at Freedom # 2 Baptist Church with Bro Frankie Kirby officiating. Burial will follow in the Freedom # 2 Church Cemetery. Visitation will be 4pm-8pmCT, Saturday, November 23, 2013, at the McMurtrey Funeral Home, 2232 Summer Shade Road, Summer Shade, KY.



He was a son of the late James Lovell Wood and Velma Wood Shirley, who survives and resides in Greenbriar,TN. He was a member of the Freedom # 2 Baptist Church in Monroe County, KY.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by the following:
  • One daughter: Gearie Ellen Wood

  • One son: Joey Shelton Wood, both of Arizona

  • One grandchild: Logan Wood
  • Two sisters: Mary Evelyn (Dale) Brown of Greenbrier, TN; and Evonna Rose Wood of Greenbriar, TN
  • Three brothers: Roger Wood of Greenbriar, TN; Jackie Ferrell Wood of Springfield, TN; and Billy (April) Wood of Springfield, TN

  • A special friend: Mary Lou Sells
Memorials may be made to the funeral home to help with funeral expense.

McMurtrey Funeral Home, 2232 Summer Shade Road, Summer Shade, KY, in charge of arrangements.
