Clark Beverage giving scoreboards, getting exclusive contract Adair County Board of Education will get $16,500 worth of scoreboards, updated equipment and Clark Beverage, the Coke distributor, will get exclusive contract to supply beverages on the campus for 5 years, right to raise prices by roughly 5 cents per drink Other Adair County Board, November 21, 2013 meeting related: By Ed Waggener The Adair County Board of Education voted unanimously to accept a contract with Clark Beverage Group, Kentucky Division, Bowling Green, KY, the local Coca-Cola distributor to replace some aging scoreboards in the John Burr Memorial Gymnasium and at the Adair County High School baseball field. The school district will get two new basketball scoreboards for the high school gymnasium at cost of $3,500 each, $7,000 total, and a new baseball scoreboard at a cost of $9,500. The total package will be $16,500. The two basketball scoreboards will be endzone ones, and the big center scoreboard will be removed. Timmy Garrett, Cold Drink Manager for Clark Beverage Group, Bowling Green, KY, was present when the scoreboard contract was explained by Adair County School's John Shelley III. Until last night, the schools had a long standing verbal agreement with Clark/Coke, which Mr. Shelley said had worked out well. Under the new agreement, Clark Beverage will be the drink supplier for all concessions, and bottled/canned beverages on the campus, including the school cafeterias, where the company will sell 100% pure juice Minute Maid products and bottled water. Negotiations were tough with Carol Roy - she's a stickler for details, Mr. Shelley said - and some new serving lines equipment is part of the deal and the Clark supplied beverages will meet nutritional guidelines, according to Mr. Garrett. Shelley said the agreement solved a dilemma for the Baseball Boosters, who, he said, have transformed the park into a gem - now one of the finest fields of any around. Ricky Bault, Maintenance supervisor, told the board that the old scoreboards had been maintenance nightmares. "The center board (at John Burr Memorial) was almost impossible to work on, and it needed lots of maintenance," he said. the new scoreboards from Electro-Mech, a Georgia Company will have LED lights, wireless controls, and are considered among the best, he said. The old ones were from Varsity Scoreboards of Murray, KY. The vote to accept the deal came on a motion by Mike Harris, with a second by Greg Willis and was accepted on 5-0 voice vote, with Floyd Burton, Joseph Payne, and Quinn Lasley joining in the affirmation.
